Research suggests that contemplative practices, such as mindfulness and similar self-reflection, can enhance students' cognitive and academic performance, stress management, emotional intelligence, and development as whole individuals—all attributes that are critical for life and career success. Furthermore, it has benefits for the wellbeing of professionals as well as students: increasing one's sense of meaning and purpose, focusing our awareness, deepening our compassion for self and others, improving listening and interpersonal connections, providing contemplative support and methods for addressing structural inequalities and building just and humane organizations, and mitigating stress or burnout.
